The seed catalogues!

The seed catalogues!! Joy. Happiness. Spring. Hope. Wishful. Every year I look forward to the arrival of the seed and plant catalogues. This reminds me of the childhood joy felt when the Sears Roebuck holiday toy catalogue came in the mail.

The pure enjoyment and pleasure of seeing and touching a beautifully assembled and photographed magazine or catalogue, full on analogue style, is far and away the best and irreplaceable experience that digital will never deliver. The ability to slowly see, touch and turn each page, studying what is offered and thinking about what new ideas I can bring into the garden. A new zinnia? Cosmos this year?

There are the vegetable seeds too, which in truth my garden can’t support with the less than full sun on my plot. So, I will leave the vegetable growing to the local farms and their amazing farmers who work hard to grow, harvest and provide fresh food for us. Thank you farmers everywhere and happy Spring.
